FALLING

Shirt, scarf, and boots: vintage/ Jeans: Gap

Was playing around with pinning my hair back...I think I want short hair again...I have been dreaming about it! It's current state is something similar to a rat's nest!

Tied some contrasting colored suede lace around to jazz up these old babies...Its funny, these boots were in my "SELL" pile but now they are once again in rotation...perfect example of why I can't let go of anything!!

A friend gave me this amber ring a million years ago and I still love it...it is big and timeless!

I have a serious addiction to vintage scarves....I usually rock them in my hair, but lately I've been loving them as an ascot like addition to my button down vintage shirts...

////This is the longest I have ever slacked on my blog...I have been crazy busy with some new projects so I hope all of you can stick with me! This month is hectic so my posts may be a bit sporadic...but come the New Year LLD will be back in full force!! I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving...I stuffed myself with risotto and eggplant parm! Hope your weekend rocks!!!///

FAREWELL

Dear Lita,
Upon first seeing you...I felt this elated feeling in my stomach. It was love. You are a pretty amazing spectacle. Not only would you provide the height that I currently crave to be but you also made yourself available in every single color and texture possible. Glitter mania! Tapestry toes...LOVE LOVE LOVE! Here is where things get complicated, Lita. Everyone and their mother and their grandmother are wearing you...and quite frankly I am just not that type of girl. I like things for myself, items that no one else really has and my darlin you are not quite cutting it...you have spread yourself around a little too much. So with much regret, I have to say goodbye Lita...I will no longer imagine multiple outfits that I can pair you with, I will long for you no more...

NIGHT OWL

Dress: vintage
Leather Leaf Necklace: my own design
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Black Opaque Tights: Target
Earrings: Urban Outfitters

///Man oh man, I am coming out of a serious week long rut!!...I have felt so down and out the past several days...maybe it's the weather change, maybe I am just a crazy bitch. We will never know for sure...but let me tell you, finding this gem of a dress at the thrift store has really helped elevate my mood! Is retail therapy better than anti-depressants? I like to think so...I truly believe me and this dress were made for each other!! How amazing is this 70's print??...and the oversized triangle sleeves!!! Heaven, my heaven!
There are some really exciting things that are beginning to happen in my and my man's life that I can't wait to share with you...I just have to give it a little more time...and NO!! I am not pregnant! It is just proof that everything happens for a reason...it all does my pretties...///

CHICK HABIT

I was in a weird mood when we took these pics, I think it shows....anyhooooooo
Sweater Dress: unknown (maybe vintage?)
Knit leggings: Forever 21
Boots: Vintage Frye
Hat: my mans vintage Borselino
Leather necklace: my own design

///I found this sweater dress at Buffalo Exchange...the colors really caught my attention...I LOVE the color combo and the pattern...it is a bit big on me but I don't really care, (a belt doesn't help, believe me I tried), it just bulks it out in the wrong way... regardless it is comfort supreme!!! Worn with my fave Fryes that were a gift MOONS ago, the knit leggings I can't take off and topped with my man's vintage Borselino. He gets so worried when I wear it because it is so precious to him....I would never do anything to hurt such a beautiful piece...puulleez!
I just realized that this is my 100th post!!!!...(i am patting myself on the back). This blog and the whole blogging world has been my savior out here. I feel like I can really express myself and still feel a part of a fashion community as I did back East. I love my blog, I love all my readers and I love all of my reader's blogs!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!///

VINYL IDOL: TINA TURNER

Ike and Tina Turner's album "What You Hear Is What You Get" was a live recording from Carnegie Hall released in 1971. It is one of my favorite pieces of vinyl that I listen to ALL the time. Although Ike and Tina were not compatible in their personal lives, the music they made was true brilliance that no one could ever recreate. The best shake your ass soulful shit you have ever heard...Tina was a mesmerizing performer and IS a true style icon...

This is my interpretation of what she might of worn while rocking on stage back in the 70's...yesterday meets today...inspired by the album cover...
Tina is known for those LEGS!!...there is no doubt that she would be rocking these short ass shimmy shaking dresses...
3.1 Phillip Lim: side draped sequin dress
Anna Sui: silk tulle sequin embellished dress

Before the high stiletto we all know today...the slingback heel was a high sexy heel (and still is in my book)...metallics and animal prints...grrrrrr...
Carlos by Carlos Santana: curiosity sandal in bronze
Leopard print slingback pumps

These fringed bib necklaces would be perfect for her overly energetic performances...anything that swings is rockin'...
E2: black fringe necklace
Chain and suede fringe necklace

The superstar would be glammed out in gems...now I am not one who usually likes diamonds but damn that rose cut diamond is AMAZING...
Kenneth Jay Lane: leopard earrings
Swarvoski: appolon ring
Lucifer Vir Honestus: rose cut diamond ring

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

I have been holding on to this editorial for a long time now...it is one of my favorites...I don't know what mag it came from or when, but I think around 2002 when the movie "Frida" was coming out. I am crazy over the styling and I feel such an attachment to this spread every time I look at it. The prints, the colors, the long skirts, the hair pieces...perfection...being inspired by Frida Kahlo is easy, she had an energy and style all her own. My personal yearn to emulate her style on occasion will last forever...the look is original and timeless...long live Frida...

BOO

Happy Halloween my little dolls!
Sooo...my computer has really been fucking with me lately...BOOOOO!! I am trying to get it resolved this week...fingers crossed...so I apologize for the lack of posts recently. It is kind of crazy how dependent I have become on this computer and how I feel like I am so out of touch with the world without it. I was able to load a couple of pics from past Halloweens. I am kind of a closeted Halloween dresser...I don't usually have plans to do anything and then every year I decide to dress up last minute and just hang at my house and watch horror movies...lame, I know...

Geisha 2009
Honestly a last minute costume...I was really happy with the way the makeup turned out...I was attempting to recreate the look that Kevyn Aucoin (LOVE LOVE LOVE) did on Gena Rowlands in his book "Face Forward"

Bullet wound 200?
No story behind this except I just really wanted to explore with makeup...I remember I sent this pic to my mom because I was really excited about how my makeup turned out and it really upset her...I guess my makeup was a little too authentic

///I am really looking forward to seeing all of your costumes , so if you post your costume please send me a link to it...
Have a fun night everyone!!!///

BOSS LADY

Top: Forever 21, Jeans: H&M

Jacket: Vintage London Fog (one of my all time luckiest finds...leather bomber for a dollar!! Wha whaaat??)

Necklace: my own design...Lately I have been picking up some big single trinkets here and there and putting them on long chains for a quick and EASY accessory...

Boots: Jeffrey Campbell

Turban: Ahhh yes...this fantastic piece is from Black Market Baby by Audrey Cantwell...I was searching for the perfect turban (FOUND) when I found her site on Etsy...all of her designs are kick ass and I also discovered that she is a fave amongst some of the bloggers whose style I adore...check her out HERE...you will LOVE her too!!!

///This whole look was centered around the turban. I love the whole turban look but I continually see it styled in a very ethereal, laid back look. I wanted to toughen it up...be the tough bitch I can be sometimes. I guess it is a reflection of my current mood...I've been feeling a bit feisty and a bit pissed off at people who talk a lot of shit and don't do anything they say they will. I really miss the East coast in times like these. You always know where you stand with someone...there are no guessing games and for the most part people do as they say. People in these part are a bit more passive and worry about hurting peoples feeling...nice gesture but I'm sorry, I like my friendships straight up with two olives!///

BIRDFACE

Sweater: Mak, Jersey tee dress: CYN, Leather leaf necklace: own design

Knit leggings: Forever 21
5 layer fringe boots: Minnetonka Moccasins

///I have pretty much been declared this boot and legging combo a fall uniform for me...this is possibly just a personal excuse for wearing them for everyday for the past 3 days!! I love the clashing textures and the subtle warmth the leggings provide. Although warmth is not really needed considering it is still 80 degrees during the day here right now. seriously. I don't remember these high temps lingering so long last year...whatever... I am still determined to have my fall...I am just sweating a bit doing it...///

GREY DAYS

I have been obsessing over anything with big sleeves...I want my arms to drown in fabric. I want a shirt with a fitted body with dramatically over sized sleeves so...I made one.

///I made this out of a mid-weight jersey fabric that I then dyed RIT Pearl Grey.
I don't normally make clothing (especially from scratch)...I really prefer to work on smaller more detail oriented projects. BUT I really wanted a shirt like this and haven't really seen anything like what was in my mind...and even if I did, I probably wouldn't have the money to afford it...so obsession and necessity really drove me to make this...and I have to say I am really in love with it!! Toot toot!///

DRAGON GIRL

Maybe you have been wondering about the red lip I have recently been rocking pretty frequently...or maybe not...well, I'm going to tell you anyways...I have been OVERLY fucking ecstatic about the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, mine being in the shade Dragon Girl, seriously this is the best lip stick/pencil EVER! Besides the color (AH MAZ ING) it stays on and doesn't dry out your lips...swear!!...soft and velvety as they mention in the name...

Hello, have you met my pores? Ain't no airbrushing here!

GONE DADDY GONE

Dress: Forever 21

Leather necklace: own design

Lace up booties: Deena & Ozzy
Striped metallic socks: Forever 21

Right hand: Antique button ring by Jody Sweitzer
Left hand: Tribal two finger ring by Tribal Souk

///While we were taking these pics, I kept thinking of the first self titled Violent Femmes album cover for some reason...this album was the soundtrack to my early teens..."Gone Daddy Gone" being one of my favorite songs on it... "Beautiful dress, Lovely girl"...
My ever changing pendulum of a mood has been a bit dark lately and I am really feeling this witchy look...long dresses like this one are all I want to wear right now, but who knows, my mood changes like the wind and what I am wearing usually follows suit...sometimes I feel like I have multiple personalities (I do mean that in a good way!)...that is how I keep myself entertained! hee hee...
I hope you all have a great day and embrace whatever mood you are in...///

PSYCHEDELIC FURS

With Balloon Fiesta starting here in New Mexico this weekend (this being my second experience), I can never help but to feel inspired by all the bright colors and the beauty of the balloons. My mind works in mysterious ways (with everything referring to fashion) and it lead me to think of all the bright colored furs that are in this fall/winter season! I think part throwback to the 90's chubby and some part adding vibrancy to a classic, I am loving every bit of it!

///If you don't know about the New Mexico Balloon Fiesta, as I didn't before I moved here, you should look it up...HERE. Truly one of the most beautiful sights ever, with so many colorful balloons filling the skies, it is a bit surreal!! It is a HUGE attraction that happens once a year and the city is FILLED with people who come just for this! My work is located near the main site and already last night we were crazy busy and are anticipating a overwhelming week...cha- ching$$$. But today I have off so I am so going to savor this lovely, hot day and relax...(it is 92 degrees here, for real,WTF??) I hope you all have a wonderful day!///
