FAREWELL

Dear Lita,
Upon first seeing you...I felt this elated feeling in my stomach. It was love. You are a pretty amazing spectacle. Not only would you provide the height that I currently crave to be but you also made yourself available in every single color and texture possible. Glitter mania! Tapestry toes...LOVE LOVE LOVE! Here is where things get complicated, Lita. Everyone and their mother and their grandmother are wearing you...and quite frankly I am just not that type of girl. I like things for myself, items that no one else really has and my darlin you are not quite cutting it...you have spread yourself around a little too much. So with much regret, I have to say goodbye Lita...I will no longer imagine multiple outfits that I can pair you with, I will long for you no more...

NIGHT OWL

Dress: vintage
Leather Leaf Necklace: my own design
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Black Opaque Tights: Target
Earrings: Urban Outfitters

///Man oh man, I am coming out of a serious week long rut!!...I have felt so down and out the past several days...maybe it's the weather change, maybe I am just a crazy bitch. We will never know for sure...but let me tell you, finding this gem of a dress at the thrift store has really helped elevate my mood! Is retail therapy better than anti-depressants? I like to think so...I truly believe me and this dress were made for each other!! How amazing is this 70's print??...and the oversized triangle sleeves!!! Heaven, my heaven!
There are some really exciting things that are beginning to happen in my and my man's life that I can't wait to share with you...I just have to give it a little more time...and NO!! I am not pregnant! It is just proof that everything happens for a reason...it all does my pretties...///

CHICK HABIT

I was in a weird mood when we took these pics, I think it shows....anyhooooooo
Sweater Dress: unknown (maybe vintage?)
Knit leggings: Forever 21
Boots: Vintage Frye
Hat: my mans vintage Borselino
Leather necklace: my own design

///I found this sweater dress at Buffalo Exchange...the colors really caught my attention...I LOVE the color combo and the pattern...it is a bit big on me but I don't really care, (a belt doesn't help, believe me I tried), it just bulks it out in the wrong way... regardless it is comfort supreme!!! Worn with my fave Fryes that were a gift MOONS ago, the knit leggings I can't take off and topped with my man's vintage Borselino. He gets so worried when I wear it because it is so precious to him....I would never do anything to hurt such a beautiful piece...puulleez!
I just realized that this is my 100th post!!!!...(i am patting myself on the back). This blog and the whole blogging world has been my savior out here. I feel like I can really express myself and still feel a part of a fashion community as I did back East. I love my blog, I love all my readers and I love all of my reader's blogs!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!///

VINYL IDOL: TINA TURNER

Ike and Tina Turner's album "What You Hear Is What You Get" was a live recording from Carnegie Hall released in 1971. It is one of my favorite pieces of vinyl that I listen to ALL the time. Although Ike and Tina were not compatible in their personal lives, the music they made was true brilliance that no one could ever recreate. The best shake your ass soulful shit you have ever heard...Tina was a mesmerizing performer and IS a true style icon...

This is my interpretation of what she might of worn while rocking on stage back in the 70's...yesterday meets today...inspired by the album cover...
Tina is known for those LEGS!!...there is no doubt that she would be rocking these short ass shimmy shaking dresses...
3.1 Phillip Lim: side draped sequin dress
Anna Sui: silk tulle sequin embellished dress

Before the high stiletto we all know today...the slingback heel was a high sexy heel (and still is in my book)...metallics and animal prints...grrrrrr...
Carlos by Carlos Santana: curiosity sandal in bronze
Leopard print slingback pumps

These fringed bib necklaces would be perfect for her overly energetic performances...anything that swings is rockin'...
E2: black fringe necklace
Chain and suede fringe necklace

The superstar would be glammed out in gems...now I am not one who usually likes diamonds but damn that rose cut diamond is AMAZING...
Kenneth Jay Lane: leopard earrings
Swarvoski: appolon ring
Lucifer Vir Honestus: rose cut diamond ring

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

I have been holding on to this editorial for a long time now...it is one of my favorites...I don't know what mag it came from or when, but I think around 2002 when the movie "Frida" was coming out. I am crazy over the styling and I feel such an attachment to this spread every time I look at it. The prints, the colors, the long skirts, the hair pieces...perfection...being inspired by Frida Kahlo is easy, she had an energy and style all her own. My personal yearn to emulate her style on occasion will last forever...the look is original and timeless...long live Frida...
